WELCOME

DEAR READER,

"I HAVE OPENED THIS WINDOW TO MY HEART

SO YOU CAN TAKE A GLIMPSE AT MY ART.

I HOPE THE FRIENDSHIP WE ARE ABOUT TO START

WILL NEVER EVER BREAK APART."

To Justice Joe Okyere a.k.a Phlexo,
This is beyond what you know
To J.K Ansah, very dark and slim
This is what we call crush victim.
But to the love of my infant heart
This is more than just an art

I see in my tears that have now created a pool
Those days I was but only in high school

Those days that was full of  ecstasy and joy
Those days I was but mummy little boy

I wish to cry
again
and again
and again

Not because of
the pain
my pain
our pain

But may be
as I cry,
as I sigh,

just may be
as my tears I try
not to dry

The face of my dear
will reappear
In the pool
my tear
by tear
has made right here.

I need you
I seek you
I beseech you

Come and let's make it new,
Come and let's make it blue
Come and let's make it true

For now
my head
my hands
my very own,

For now
my heart
my hormones
are all grown

Strong enough
to defeat
and defend,

strong In fact
to delete
and depend

Nevertheless
Never depressed
Never obsessed
Never oppressed

Will I ever be
If I never find thee

For such is what I deserve to have.
For such is the design from above
For such is the teenage love

TIME AND TIDE

I don't expect everyone to understand this,
For it took me weeks to know what it is.
However complex it may be
The last line sums it for you and me.
TIME…
If wasting you was no crime,
I'd spend you writing a rhyme
Though I wouldn't receive even a dime.

…AND TIDE…
If I had your remote control by my side,
I'd jump into my boat for a ride,
In search of rubies for my will-be bribe.

…WAIT …
I've done that since 2008
And now it's even getting late
For me to control my fate.

…FOR NO MAN.
Yes! Not even the rich one
Who rides the most expensive van,
Seldom feels the heat of the sun
And does whatever he wills and can.

Indeed whether a poetic mind is all you have
Or you're a fisherman in love,
a young man who is awaiting a chance to slip by
Or that man who is mighty and high,
Let me tell you as loudly as I can,
That TIME AND TIDE WAITS FOR NO MAN.

no GIFT for GIFTy

To the persona's lady; so loving so nifty,
whom, just for this poem will be called Gifty.

I want to pass by
And say hi
To the apple of my eye
But I feel so very shy

Because I’ve got
Not

No sweet scented rose
To tickle her nose
No choco bar or paste
to lick or taste

I'm at her gate not knowing if I should knock
Or simply call her to come and open their lock
because I’m afraid her dogs will appear
And bark; goo go! What are you doing here

when you've got
Not

No sweet scented rose
to tickle her nose
No choco bar or paste
for lick or taste

I can avoid the dogs, jump the backyard wall
And sneak through the backdoor into the hall
But I feel I won't deserve her hugs and kisses
and all she'll do especially when me she misses

because I've got
Not

No sweet scented rose
To tickle her nose
No choco bar or paste
to lick or taste

My Gifty will not drive me away if she finds me at her gate
My Gifty will not ask me to take her out on a date

But I'm leaving because I can't look her in the eye
I’m going back home because I feel worried and shy

That upon all the love she's made me see
That Upon all the phases of life she's seen with me

I couldn't give her on this
Valentine's day

No sweet scented rose
To tickle her nose
No choco bar or paste
to lick or taste.

i HATE to be LATE

I wrote this once when I was late for school;
An act that is against that lecturer's number one rule.
You may see this as a piece of drool
But that doesn't make me a fool.

If I owned even a small pair of wings
Like that bird who behind my window sings
I'd have stopped writing this rhyme
And flown as fast as I could in no time

If time were as corrupt as the men at the roadside
Who find faults only when they decide,
I'd have given him a gift so I could walk like a bride;
At my own pace, with all the peace, and all the pride.

Wait for me time please it's not entirely my fault
Wait for me time, please I beg you to halt.
I set an alarm but I think it was just inept
I told the cock but I think we both overslept,

Watchman of the times in the day,
This is all that I want to say;
Let this lecturer come after eight
So that I won't be late.

To my super M-O-T-H-E-R

To my super M-O-T-H-E-R

I specially wrote
This Piece of note
For my daddy's wife,
The first lady of my life
But if you are a mother or a woman,
Who will someday bring forth another human
Then this is yours too to relish
This is yours too to cherish.

                   M
Month May makes me very glad, never sad and all gay.
Many other people I’m sure feel the same way
Mainly because of this very special day
Man has named and framed mother's day.

                   O
Oh boy! When I see a pregnant woman I wait and wonder.
Out it doesn't come but I pause and ponder
Over how much she would have charged that baby in her,
Only if it were to pay for being in there

                  T
Thank you mother for carrying me for six month plus three
Through the pain and the push-push you did because of me.
The breast and milk was great. Wondering why men can't forget them?
That, I guess is the very genesis of that problem.

                  H
Honey, grieve not if on mother's day I overfill her purse
Hahahaa! For that Moses rod you love so much she did nurse.
Hate me not if I choose her if both of you are drowning in a river
Had it not been her, I wouldn't have ever been your lover.

                  E
Ever loving, ever caring, ever comforting mother of mine
Extraordinary, incomparable super mother of our family of nine
Every day, every week, every month, every year will pass and go
Even you may join but my love for you will forever grow.

                              R
RUTH, my dear marvelous mother, my sweetest sweetheart, my only one,
Ridiculous it sounds but if you hear I've been arrested for stealing the sun
Rejoice! For that is the extent I can go to show the size of my love
Really, you are the best mum I will always wish to have.

I'm GLAD you're my DAD

I'm GLAD you're my DAD

I know my dad may never read this
But whether he reads it or not, it is still his.

For all the love words you told my mum,
And all the love songs you had to hum,
For all the lovely gifts you had to buy too
Until finally she said 'I do',
I'm glad
You're my dad.

For all the strength you lost in making me,
For all the styles though I didn't see,
And for all the silly errands you had to go
All because pregnant mum said so,
I'm glad
You're my dad.

For all the prayers you said till 27th august dawn,
For all the insults you received from mum till I was finally born,
For all the baby sitting you did when mum was away
And all the lullabies you sang to make me play,
I'm glad
You're my dad

For the trouble you went through when I got burnt on my chest,
And the countless times you took me to the clinic for eye test,
For the lenses and frames you continuously bought
And I carelessly broke while I slept or fought,
I'm glad
You're my dad

For each spank, for each slap, for each blow,
For each knock, for each lash I saw you throw,
I hated you but now I've grown and I know
That they were only to help me grow.

A day will come that I will be called daddy too
And I'll do my best to be praised like you
My ears went close to my sweetheart's tummy today
And I'm sure I heard each of my future twins say;

I'M GLAD
YOU'RE MY DAD

YESTERDAY, MY VALENTINE'S DAY

YESTERDAY, MY VALENTINE'S DAY

When I ended my usual 9pm to 6am date with my bed
And indeed it was Valentine’s Day as the calendar had already declared,

I wasn't thrilled, nay!
Cos Yesterday
Was my Valentine’s Day

When I came across the word love
As I had my quiet time with Our Father above,

I didn't lose concentration, nay!
Cos yesterday
Was my Valentine’s Day.

When my mum served my breakfast of tea and bread
And beside the flask sat a fresh pack of chocolate spread

My tongue wasn't excited to taste, nay!
Cos yesterday
Was my Valentine’s Day

When I opened my wardrobe to choose a shirt and a tie
And the slim red one with pride said hi

I wasn't filled with glee, nay!
Cos yesterday
Was my Valentine’s Day

When I entered my office and the dispenser was filled with chocolate beverage
And someone was sipping a glass of it as she read a text message,

I wasn't jealous, nay!
Cos yesterday
Was my Valentine’s Day

As I go round to fill a form or to give a client his policy certificate,
If I see people exchanging cards, roses and bars of chocolate,

I won't be sad, nay!
Cos yesterday
Was my Valentine’s Day.

After work if I see people in red going out in pairs
And restaurant attendant busily arranging drinks and chairs

I wouldn't be tempted instead I’ll pick my phone and dial the number
Of the one who sleeps in my heart's special chamber

And tell her:
Gracias por hacer el día de ayer mi San Valentín
Which simply means thanks for making yesterday
My valentine's day.
